Farchioni Winery, located on one of Italys abundant hill tops, is world famous for their quality products. Here we see grapes being crushed and sent to the fermentation tanks. We also see wine being drawn off and stored in wooden casks. A great behind-the-scenes experience. Later we have lunch and a wine tasting. There is no shortage of good food and good wine being provided by our host Marco Farchioni.

Pina Napa Valley is owned and operated by four brothers whose family story stretches back to the pioneer days when their great-great grandfather, Bluford Stice, led a wagon train into the valley from Missouri. That was back in 1856! Their great grandfather, Lafayette, was a farmer, a winemaker, and a leader in the wine industry of Napa Valley at the turn of the twentieth century. The other side of the Pina family arrived in Napa from Malaga, Spain, (via Hawaii) in 1915 and they settled on a farm in Rutherford in the 1920′s. All this to say the Pina brothers are well steeped in both history and reputation throughout the Napa Valley. They not only make some of the best Cabernet I’ve ever enjoyed, they manage some of the most prestigious vineyards in the Napa Valley as well. The Pina brothers know everything about growing grapes in the Napa Valley. They also know which is the cream of the crop and where to plant it – Cabernet, on their own vineyards. At Pina Napa Valley they use their knowledge and expertise to make what is considered the ‘King of wine’ in the Napa Valley – Cabernet Sauvignon. They make only estate cabernets and only 3000 cases a year……..selling out is not uncommon. If you want to have a down-to-earth, get real & serious wine tasting experience, be sure not to miss Pina Napa Valley.
